All Things Gear Review the ‘Powerhouse’ AKG P220 Microphone
All Things Gear have recently reviewed the AKG P220 condenser microphone, providing a throrough breakdown of the design & performance, and answering some key questions to give you all the details you’ll need to make an informed decision on a microphone they claim is a ‘great-value powerhouse’.

The reviewer found the P220 to be an overall versatile and well-rounded microphone, offering uses a strong design with clean and vibrant sound to match. They note ‘It looks more premium than you’d expect given its price range.’ and that it also includes accessories such as shock mounts and ‘you’ll also get a nice hard carry case, which isn’t necessarily all that common in this price range.’
The reviewer also notes that the P220 ‘sounds very good’ and ‘I generally found the microphone to be full-bodied and natural sounding… I did find that the microphone seemed to prioritize high frequencies a little more than the rest of the frequency range. That’s not necessarily a bad thing by any means, though.’
The final verdict was ‘The AKG P220 is a solid large-diaphragm condenser microphone. It’s very well-built, comes with a good selection of accessories and a hard carry case, and sounds great.’
