Adding to the ever-growing collection of superb Larrivee reviews, the December Issue of Guitarist magazine includes a fantastic round up of 2 of the latest Larrivee Traditional Series guitars. Put in the spotlight are the SD-60SBT and the OOO-50 with the latter picking up the prestigious Guitarist Choice award.

SD-60 SBT (Sloped Dreadnought Body Shape)

"...absolutely no gripes with SD-60's top-only (Sunburst) treatment: it looks fab, and is beautifully graduated from burst to black under the body's flawless high-gloss lacquering".

"...the SD-60SBT certainly puts in a high-quality, big-hearted performance. The low-end has firmness, depth and blossoming warmth, while the highs ring out loud and clear without ever sounding harsh".

"...the top is again Canadian Sitka Spruce and, with its even graining and abundant cross-silking, is one of the nicest-looking examples we've seen for a long time".

"Though having a lighter, slightly breathier tonal texture, the OOO-50 concedes little to the larger dreadnought for clout which is remarkable. The guitar also feels the dynamically suppler of the two...A vintage-design OOO to be reckoned with in all respects, and keenly priced too".

In conclusion, "While the guitars' larger sound-holes are a come-on for Bluesgrass enthusiasts, the appeal of these traditionally liveried Larrivees is much broader than that and embraces any serious finger-stylist regardless of the kind of material they play".
