The latest (March 2008) edition of Performing Musician magazine includes a superb review of the new Fishman AFX Effects pedals designed exclusively for acoustic instruments.
In reviewing the three models - Reverb, Delay and Chorus - reviewer Bob Thomas begins by commenting on the sound quality on offer "The first thing to say is that all three AFX pedals sound absolutely excellent. Background noise is virtually zero and there were no pops, clicks, bangs, buzzes or other unwanted artifacts, whether connected singly or in a chain." Thanks to 24-bit audio converters and 32-bit internal effects processig the AFX pedals deliver what is described as "exemplary audio performance."
The quality of the effects themselves are described as "superb" with the Reverb pedal a particular favourite described as "a joy through and through".

In action with the reviewers own Guild D40 with soundhole magnetic pickup, Yamaha APX-9N and Martin OMC-28 with undersaddle pickup the review comments, "All three AFX pedals gave great results with these guitars, proving just how well thought out the voicings of these pedals are. I also ran a couple of mandolins and banjos through them, and the three pedals worked virtually as well with these instruments too."
The final conclusion reads, "The Fishman AFX Acoustic Effects pedals are essentially excellent performers and deserve to be considered by all payers of acoustic or semi-acoustic instruments who use piezo or magnetic pickups to deliver their onstage sound ... In the AFX Acoustic Effects Fishman have given acoustic musicians three more superb tools for use in live performance and, especially if you're in the market for some new effects, you ignore these at your sonic peril."
