Having already seen three great Digitech RP1000 reviews in as many months, May is no exception. This time it is Guitar Buyer Magazine's turn to cast its eye over Digitech's flagship multi-effects processor, the RP1000. The magazines 'Gold Stars' are awarded for its 'Large range of good-quality sounds', 'tough construction' and the fact that it's 'easy to use'.
"The features of this unit are extensive. There's a lot going on, despite the claim of stompbox simplicity, though it is refreshingly easy to navigate. This no more apparent than when the 'pedalboard' mode is selected, although the unit can also be used in the more familiar 'patch' mode...using the 'up' and 'down' footswitches it is possible to recall several different setups in just a couple of stomps; an acoustic simulator, chorus, delay and subtle reverb for one song then a high-gain amp, 4x12 cab, flanger and boost for the next. You'd struggle to do that with a collection of individual stompboxes."
"A switchable 'stomp loop' allows one or several external stompboxes to be connected between the distortion and amplifier models (the other effects all have the choice of being placed before the distortions or after the modelled amplifier's preamp) and can therefore be accessed easily. Meanwhile the 'amp loop' allows the unit to send all the effects selected for 'post distortion out to your amplifier's effects loop."
"The inclusion of both a USB port and Cubase software also make the RP1000 a great choice for bedroom recording. Which certainly adds a lot of versatility to the unit and lifts it above some of its biggest rivals".
