DRIVERACK PX: 'REALLY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE'
30th September '08

"...the DriveRack PX is all about extracting maximum performance from any powered speaker system without the operator having to do anything complicated or difficult".

The latest in the hugely successful Driverack PA management processors from dbx, the DriveRack PX, is reviewed in the latest issue of Performing Musician Magazine.

The DriveRack PX Powered Speaker Optimizer has everything you need to get the most out of your stereo powered speaker system. It even includes stereo or mono subwoofer support. With the included dbx M2 measurement mic, Auto-EQ corrects for audible deficiencies in the room environment. Our patented Advanced Feedback Suppression (AFS) kills nasty feedback, allowing problem-free operation at higher sound levels, while our patented Subharmonic Synthesizer extends bass response for enhanced bottom end. With all that, you also get classic dbx compression and the protection offered by our graceful PeakPlus limiting.

"...there are some things that cannot be controlled by the speaker's built-in electronics, including possible overdriving of the input and other variables such as the external acoustic environment and program content, which means that some outboard units - for example, graphic equalizers, feedback suppressors, etc - may still be needed. What the DriveRack PX provides is the ability to tweak the system for better performance and add extra functionality".

"The compressor/limiter section is what I would class as an essential ingredient of any speaker ingredient of any speaker management system, and the DriveRack PX uses the classic dbx overasey compression in a full-bandwidth design. I regularly use this feature when providing PA for announcements and conferences, and I have always found a suitable setting without too much trouble".

"Using the DriveRack PX is as easy as the manual says it is. It's designed to be hooked up between the output of your mixer and the input(s) of your powered speakers, and it really can make a difference to the performance of the system - and, of course, the Driverack PX can take the place of various separate processors such as stand alone graphic ed, feedback suppressors, compressors and limiters".

In Summary, "The whole thing is designed to make things as easy as possible and offers a simple inexpensive bolt-on approach, which adds functionality and control over the PA. Definitely worth checking out".
